Mediplast finalizes another international acquisition.

Mediplast acquires all shares in Kendan A/S located in Lynge, just outside Copenhagen, Denmark. Kendan A/S is a leading company within Respiratory and Surgical products in Denmark. Kendan A/S is today focused on distribution products, the largest suppliers are Intersurgical Ltd (respiratory products), Breas Medical AB (ventilation and sleep therapy products) and Rocialle Ltd.(customized medical packs). The acquisition is effective by March 25th 2014.

“This is a natural step in our Nordic growth strategy. We are strengthening our position in Denmark, especially within the Respiratory field and at the same time we are also strengthening our Surgical field” says Fredrik Arp, Chairman of the board, Mediplast AB.

“Kendan A/S was started in 1990 and we have built a good and strong company. However, in order to maintain and grow the business even further in the years to come, we have searched for the best solution and feel that we have now found a company, that will be able to help us achieve these goals.” says Jan Bau and Søren Lindskov, the former owners of Kendan A/S.

“The acquisition corresponds very well with our vision, i.e. to be one of the leading distributors in the Nordic region in regards to disposables for the medical sector. The former owners of Kendan A/S, Jan Bau and Søren Lindskov, will stay with the company and we are convinced that they will contribute with knowledge and experience to enable this vision.” says Lars-Erik Rydell, CEO of Mediplast.

The acquisition increases the total Mediplast group revenue to approximately 450 MSEK on an annual basis, and the total number of employees now exceeds 120.
